Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using WealthDOS, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you should not use the application.

Description of Service

WealthDOS is a free, client-side personal finance tool that helps you track expenses, income, investments, and simulate financial scenarios. The application runs entirely in your browser and stores all data locally on your device.

Not Financial Advice

WealthDOS is a tool for personal tracking and simulation purposes only. Nothing in this application constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. The FIRE calculations, cost-of-living comparisons, portfolio tracking, and any other features are provided for informational and educational purposes only.

You should consult a qualified financial advisor before making any financial decisions. We are not responsible for any financial decisions you make based on information displayed in this application.

Market Data Accuracy

WealthDOS displays market data (stock prices, exchange rates, cost-of-living estimates) sourced from third-party providers. This data is provided "as is" and may be delayed, inaccurate, or incomplete. We do not guarantee the accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of any market data displayed.

Do not rely on WealthDOS for real-time trading decisions.

App Lock (PIN)

WealthDOS provides an optional PIN lock feature for local device security. Your PIN is derived using PBKDF2 with 100,000 iterations and a unique random salt generated per device, then stored only in your browser's local storage. It is never transmitted or stored on any server.

The PIN lock includes brute force protection. After 5 incorrect attempts, the keypad is locked for 30 seconds, doubling with each subsequent lockout. If you forget your PIN, it cannot be recovered. You will need to clear your browser data, which will permanently delete all WealthDOS data.

Biometric Unlock

WealthDOS offers an optional biometric unlock feature (Face ID, Touch ID, or equivalent) as a convenient alternative to PIN entry. This feature uses the Web Authentication API (WebAuthn) provided by your browser and operating system.

Biometric authentication is performed entirely by your device's platform authenticator. WealthDOS never accesses, processes, or stores your biometric data. We only store a non-sensitive credential identifier in your browser's local storage.

Data Responsibility

Since all data is stored locally in your browser, you are solely responsible for backing up your data. We cannot recover lost data if you clear your browser storage, switch devices, or experience any form of data loss. We recommend using the export feature regularly.

Availability

WealthDOS is provided as a free service with no guaranteed uptime or availability. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the application at any time without notice. Since the app works offline once installed, your existing data and core functionality will remain accessible even if the service is discontinued.

Limitation of Liability

WealthDOS is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of or inability to use the application.

Intellectual Property

The WealthDOS name, logo, design, and source code are the property of its creators. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the application without permission.

Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms of Use at any time. Changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of WealthDOS after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
